Testimonials

"I never used such services before, so I was a bit doubtful if I could really get a well-written essay. My teacher said that she liked original ideas and well-grounded arguments I presented in the essay. She is very picky, you know, and seldom says something like that. So, I am very glad that I have found your service where good quality and nice prices meet."

Oxford Style Papers

Academic writing in higher learning needs writers to strictly adhere to writing styles which define how a paper should be formatted and referenced. The academic styles of writing vary subtly depending on the subject matter as well as choice of the authority that assigns work. For example a Social Science paper may be written using the Modern Language Association writing style whereas, a pure chemistry work may be written using the ASA writing style. This difference is determined by the kind of topic to be covered in the paper. Similarly, the incorporation of references differs according to the style applied. A part from making style considerations there is a need to use appropriate writing mechanics by ensuring that there are no typographic errors and the spellings, punctuation and sentence structure are appropriate.

In this review the paper shall highlight the Oxford style of writing which is used when writing Oxford style papers in the study of arts and humanities. Oxford style papers are unique in style because unlike many other writing styles they do not make use of parenthetical citations. Instead, Oxford style papers make use of notes to show referenced positions. The notes used constitute of end notes and footnotes.  The end notes as the name denotes are placed at the end of the document, whereas; the foot notes are placed at the end of each page on which they appear. Both end notes and foot notes are represented by markers which constitute of Arabic or Roman numerals superscript numbers placed at the end of sentences to be cited. The foot notes placed at the end of the page are easier to refer to because they are within simple reach.

On the other hand, end notes present a little challenge because one has to refer back to the last pages of the document, and this may be particularly tedious if the document is lengthy. In order to make the referencing more convenient in Oxford style papers at times there might be a need to allow the use of parenthetical citations. However, this should only be allowed when asked to do so. It is always recommendable for one mode of referencing to be applied for the sake of enhancing consistency. Therefore, is recommended that one choice be followed all through the paper. Oxford style papers also require a bibliographic section which offers the full details about the reference materials used. The bibliographic section in Oxford style papers should show the names of authors, title of sources, date of publication, place of publication and publishing house.

This is essential in cases where the notes have been written in a short form. All references within the bibliography section of an Oxford style paper have to be ordered alphabetically. The foot notes may not appear as full references in Oxford style papers, and as such they may simply contain the author’s name, page number and year of publication. The superscript numbers should be placed immediately after quotes and paraphrases made within Oxford style papers. Just like the rest of the writing styles Oxford style papers require that quotes be placed within quotation marks and those with a word count over 40 to be block-indented. Comments included in Oxford style papers could also apply end notes and foot notes.
